Windows 95, 98 and ME

Do you have a computer running Windows 95, 98 or ME?  If you need help with such a system, please bear in mind that Microsoft and many other companies have now withdrawn support for these systems, and also that if your computer is running such a system, it is likely to be several years old now, and probably well past its "life expectancy".

Whilst we will help you with problems on older computers, we do set a limit on how long we will spend working on the problem, and generally we stick to one hour. 

• Computers more than 8 years old will be past their expected life
• Replacing "dead" components will prolong the life of the machine, but it will basically be the same old machine
• Upgrading the processor or motherboard is almost certainly not possible (well, not to anything that’s worthwhile!)
• It is not always economical to work on an old machine that has a limited life left, when a new machine could cost as little as £300.

At your request, we will work longer than an hour on your machine even if it is old, but we will always advise against it.

Please note that if your machine is running Windows 95, 98 or ME then unless it is an emergency, we will generally not work on it. We will however be able to perform data recovery (assuming the hard disk is working).
